Overview

The Dementia Support Service supports the needs of people living with dementia and their carers by organising weekly activity groups within Dundee.

We’re currently looking for a Service Manager to join our team on a full-time, fixed-term contract until the end of March 2024.

The Role

As a Service Manager, you will lead and manage the delivery of five weekly support and activity groups, facilitating the successful and safe provision of services for people living with dementia and their carers.

As part of your role, you will oversee the effective day-to-day co-ordination of staff and volunteers, manage the budget and ensure all activities comply with relevant policies, procedures and regulations.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

- Managing a team of staff and/or volunteers who provide the services in the local area involving co-ordinating where services will be delivered and who will deliver them
- Regularly visiting the weekly support groups to provide support to staff and volunteers
- Developing and maintaining relationships with key local contacts - growing the profile of our services by engaging with healthcare providers, other volunteer groups and families to promote referrals
- Managing the recruitment, induction, development and motivation of staff and volunteers
- Monitoring the service budget, specifically service income and expenditure

Working Hours

This is a full-time role (35 hours per week) which will involve working across the Dundee area as well as remotely from home on a fixed-term contract until the 31st of March 2024.

What you’ll need

- Experience of networking with key stakeholders
- Experience of delivering activities within a group setting
- Experience of managing a budget and allocating resources effectively
- Experience of producing written reports in a timely manner for managers and or commissioners
- Experience of managing and co-ordinating staff and volunteers
- Knowledge and/or experience of dementia
- An understanding of the value of group activities to people living with dementia
- Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Health & Safety and the Mental Capacity Act
- An understanding of the need for client confidentiality
- Ability to proficiently use standard IT systems
- GCSE Maths and English grade A-C or Scottish Higher qualification in English
- A full, valid driving licence and access to your own vehicle
- This role will require a DBS check
