An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Gas Engineer to join the Campus Infrastructure Team at the University of Bath, the Times University of the Year 2023!

About the role:

The role is to undertake both planned and reactive maintenance with a primary focus on gas safety but will also include repair tasks across the range of plumbing building services to include hot and cold-water systems, sanitary ware, internal plumbing and drainage services across the University estate. You will also undertake some low-level electrical work and be expected to take part in the on-call rota.

The successful applicant will be encouraged and supported to develop a wider knowledge of building services mechanical and electrical systems.

This is a full time, permanent position at 36.5 hours per week, to be worked Monday to Thursday 08:15hrs to 16:45hrs; Friday 08:15hrs to 15:45hrs. To suit operational requirements, you may be requested to work flexibly at any time between 7am and 7pm.

About you:

- Recognised Apprenticeship and attained City & Guilds Parts 1+2 OR an NVQ 2 in Plumbing or related Engineering or Building Services discipline
- Gas safe Domestic & Commercial certificates
- A good problem solver with great customer service skills
- Hard-working with excellent time management skills
- Able to work safely and to the Approved Codes of Practice
- Demonstrable electrical skills or willing to train for them
- Ideally able to undertake overtime if/when required

The successful candidate will join the Workshop Team, dedicated to maintaining the upkeep of the University's buildings. The work is mostly on the campus and occasionally in the city.
