About the role

We have a great opportunity for a proven time-served fitter to work as part of our repairs and maintenance team in our modern Vehicle Repair Shop. Our grounds care equipment is varied - ranging from tractors, woodchippers and ride on mowers to chainsaws, blowers and strimmer’s. The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday as part of a team of five who are also at times required to support with the maintenance and repairs of our road going vehicles. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to work in a friendly and supportive environment.

You will have:
• A relevant qualification in the maintenance and repair of agricultural or grounds equipment (NVQ or City and Guilds etc)
• Practical and working knowledge of repairs and maintenance of horticultural and/or agricultural items of plant, including welding and hydraulics
• The ability to repair and maintain both petrol and diesel machinery / vehicles
• A licence to drive Class 2 HGVs - would be desirable but not essential

You are expected to provide your own tools for this role. These should be comprehensive and appropriate for the equipment you will work on.
Specialist tools are provided by Stevenage Borough Council.
