We are looking for a dynamic Cook to join our team at Royal Trinity Hospice.

In this role you will plan produce and serve high quality, freshly made, nutritious and well-presented food and refreshments to meet the needs of patients, staff and visitors individual requirements in a safe well and well managed environment.
Royal Trinity Hospice is the oldest hospice in the country and has embarked on a new five-year strategy to transform our model of care to support even more people and their loved ones. This is an exciting time to be joining the organisation and this role is at the centre of the new developments.

The overall purpose of this role
• To create menus and meals to reflect the diversity of our patients, identifying allergens and costings for each recipe provided to ensure consistency and compliance.
• To source high quality ingredients within budgetary constraints, preparing meals in a safe and clean environment.
• To safely use equipment within the kitchen ensuring the equipment is used in line with safety and user guidance and well maintained.
• To identify with patients their likes and dislikes to provide a quality customer service.
• To understand and produce food for special diets including plant based, food intolerances/allergens, cultural and religious requirements.
• To ensure meals are delivered and serviced appropriately, including relevant portion size to meet patient’s appetite and temperature of meals
• To monitor stock levels and ensure appropriate rotation of stock and place orders with nominated suppliers.

Skills and Experience Required
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Excellent time management and organisation skills
• Self-motivated and reliable
• Sound working knowledge of Microsoft
• Proven catering and cooking experience
• Knowledge and understanding of dietary and nutritional needs of people in a care environment
• Application of health and safety and food safety rules and regulations including COSHH and HACCP

The interview process will consist of a trial shift where you will prepare a meal and a panel interview.
The trial shift will be either a lunch or dinner shift as follows:
• Lunch trial 12pm -2pm; interview between 2pm - 3pm
• Interview 4pm - 5pm; dinner trial between 5pm -7pm

Candidates will be selected on a rolling basis and will be invited to attend an interview and trial shift.
