We are now looking for a Library Assistant to join us on a part time, permanent basis, working 14.5 hours per week (Thursdays & Fridays).

- THE ROLE -

To provide an excellent standard of service to all our customers and visitors, encouraging them to explore and make use of our services, supporting them in achieving their full potential and supporting the University in achieving strategic objectives. As this is a customer focused role, the post holder will need to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills.
The post holder will ensure enquiries are dealt with effectively and referred on appropriately, as well as communicating with senior colleagues so as to contribute to the effective running of an equitable and high-quality library service.
The Library Assistant will be part of an agile and flexible team that supports specific activities of library services: Collections, Academic Services or Customer Services.

- ABOUT YOU -

To be considered for this role, you will need:
- Evidence of a positive, flexible approach to, and experience in delivering consistently excellent customer service in a busy environment.
- Evidence of using questioning skills to identify good solutions.
- Experience of dealing with enquiries using different channels, e.g., phone, email, live chat.
- Evidence of taking initiative and responsibility for tasks in order to meet targets and deadlines.
- Evidence of effective team working / working with others.
- IT Literacy, a good knowledge of using core IT systems e.g., Microsoft applications, email and internet.
- Evidence of ability to produce detailed and accurate work.
- Ability to carry out tasks that involve physical effort and dexterity.
