The Role

The Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship (HCE) welcomes applications for the position of Lecturer / Senior Lecturer* to further enhance our research/scholarship, teaching and knowledge exchange activity. We are seeking applications from scholars who are people oriented, collaborative, ambitious, innovative and bold, who will lead by example, and contribute to the development of the HCE and its work during a time of opportunity and growth.

We are keen to receive applications from candidates with a growing national and international reputation for excellent entrepreneurship, strategy and/or innovation research/scholarship and teaching, alongside a passion for useful, informed and influential engagement with entrepreneurial leaders, organisations, policymakers and other key stakeholders.

Successful candidates will contribute to teaching and research across department and faculty programmes, with a particular focus on covering key subject areas such as: a) Entrepreneurial Finance, b) Entrepreneurial Capital, c) Social Innovation; d) Innovation Management and e) Project Management for new ventures and SMEs. The candidate is expected to demonstrate excellent quantitative research skills and experience of applying these in the context of these thematic areas.

The Institution

Approaching its 25th anniversary, the HCE was founded in 2001, with the aim to be a world-class entrepreneurship centre in education, research and outreach. Established through an endowment by alumnus, entrepreneur and philanthropist Sir Tom Hunter, we are one of the first and most significant social investments made by the Hunter Foundation. Sir Tom's support of the Hunter Centre is based on the simple premise that education changes lives in many ways, including: aspirations, sense of purpose, employability and what they can ultimately achieve.

Today, the HCE is one of Europe’s leading groups of researchers, educators and practitioners in the areas of entrepreneurship, innovation and strategy. With 25 full time academic staff engaged in teaching, research and knowledge exchange - alongside a vibrant PhD community of over 50 students - the HCE is at the vanguard of entrepreneurship, innovation and strategy research and teaching in the UK and internationally. As such, the department will be renamed the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship, Strategy and Innovation in August 2024. Our excellence recognised by the Small Business Charter Award, from the Chartered Association of Business Schools. HCE is also the home of the new Strathclyde Institute for Sustainable Communities that unlocks grassroots innovation for a sustainable future.

The HCE is one of the six academic departments that make up the quadruple accredited SBS located in Glasgow, Scotland. It also plays a significant role in the University’s ‘Strathclyde Inspire’ initiative, which aims to empower all staff, students and alumni to embrace entrepreneurship to transform their own lives and the lives of others.

Applications must be submitted using the University portal and cannot be accepted by email.
