- THE ROLE -

The post of Senior Lecturer in Quantity Surveying will be located within the Institute of WISA. This is primarily in our Swansea campus however, the University promotes a flexible, hybrid working pattern. The post of Senior Lecturer in Quantity Surveying will be located within the School of Architecture, Construction and Environments. The post-holder will provide specialist expertise in Quantity Surveying and related disciplines across the School’s portfolio of programmes. The areas of Procurement, Construction Law, Business Management, and Advanced Quantity Surveying are considered important areas of development within the school, reflecting a private practice quantity surveying (PQS) focus. The post-holder will work closely with colleagues in the Apprenticeship Unit to maintain our existing provision and support upon the development of new areas of opportunity.

The post will also play a role in working with the Construction Wales Innovation Centre to influence a step change in respect of external engagement in the following key areas of activity - Applied Research; Industry influenced Continuous Professional Development programmes for practitioners; Commercial, non-core income generating activity (training, consultancy, project-based and professional services); the application of circular economy, Net-Zero construction and industry based digital technologies; Cross-school collaborative projects and initiative developments.

The post holder will be under the line management of the Academic Director and may be expected to take operational direction of a Programme (or Programmes) of Study at undergraduate and / or postgraduate level. In this capacity, the post holder will be responsible for the teaching, assessment, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of the programme(s), including offering academic leadership, support and guidance to a limited number of staff. The post holder will also have responsibility for the enhancement of the student experience and ensuring the programme(s) operate within a QAA framework and in line with University policies and procedures. The post holder will offer teaching and instruction up to and including post graduate supervision. The post holder will be expected to undertake scholarship, research, training and/or project work, individually or as part of a network, and will actively seek out funding opportunities, knowledge transfer, external engagement and collaboration, and professional recognition. The post holder will make a positive contribution to the day-to-day activities of the Academic Discipline and Institute.
