Female Support Worker

Swansea | £12.50 - £14.50 per hour

We are seeking a support worker to join an existing care team to provide support and facilitate the independence of our client, a young girl born in 2013 who lives with her parents near Clydach. She has cerebral palsy, resulting in physical and learning disabilities and requiring 24/7 1:1 care.

Her care needs are complex and she requires support in managing her day to day needs in the home; assistance in undertaking activities; supporting her to attend a special needs school and engaging in therapies.

Some of the moving and handling tasks may require you to bend, kneel, squat or lunge and work on mats on the floor on a regular basis.

The work is varied and involves assisting the client to access the local community and its amenities, along with accompanying her on family outings and holidays.

The role may include overnight shifts at the client’s home, making sure she is safe and attended to during the night.

Previous experience and full driving licence are essential. You will be required to drive her wheelchair adapted vehicle, which is a long wheelbase Caravelle.

You must be registered with OR working towards registration with Social Care Wales.

You must hold a recognised Health and Social Care qualification (NVQ Level 2 or a Diploma) OR have completed the All Wales Induction Framework, or be willing to complete this within 6 months of starting if successful.

Full and part time hours considered

£12.50 per hour weekdays, £13.50 per hour weekends.
Waking nights: £13.50 per hour weekdays and £14.50 per hour weekends.

Female applicants only due to nature of personal care involved.

This position requires a fully enhanced disclosure request from the DBS.
You will also be required to register with the DBS Update Service.

Due to the current climate, interviews will be held via Zoom/Skype/other such teleconferencing tools, therefore candidates MUST HAVE the ability to attend interview via these methods.

Successful applicants will be invited to a 2 stage interview process. The first with the client’s case manager and parent. The second will be an opportunity to meet and greet with the client, family and existing support worker.
