About Us

We are Mesothelioma UK, a charity that supports people affected by the asbestos-related cancer, mesothelioma. Established in 2009, we offer free access to specialist information, support and education and campaign for improved care and treatment.

We fund a variety of services, projects and research to raise awareness of this disease and help the UK to lead the way in making mesothelioma history through world-class audit, research and clinical trials.

We are currently looking for a Junior Fundraising Assistant to join our dedicated team on a 12 month fixed term contract, with the potential to become permanent.

Many have never heard of mesothelioma, even though it is a disease that can affect anyone who has been exposed to asbestos. With over 2,700 cases a year, the UK has the highest incidence of the disease in the world.

In this supportive role, you will have the chance to help the fundraising department who raise awareness of our cause, connect people who have been affected by this type of cancer and generate funds to combat this disease.

What’s more, no experience is necessary and you will be given plenty of opportunities to learn, develop your skills and gain a strong understanding of how the fundraising team create sustainable and engaging fundraising journeys.

The Role

As a Junior Fundraising Assistant, you will help out in all areas of the fundraising department.

You will be responsible for maintaining fundraising stocks, writing thank you letters and assisting with the online administration of fundraising campaigns.

Working with the Finance Assistant, you will also help to provide audit trail for donations.

Specifically, you will:

- Answer basic queries from fundraisers
- Work with the team to create financial and activity reports
- Update orders and maintain stock inventory
- Use JustGiving and other fundraising systems

About You

To join us as a Junior Fundraising Assistant, you will need:

- Good organisational skills
- Great communication and interpersonal skills with a can-do attitude
- Excellent computer skills and competent in all Microsoft applications, including Excel
- To be educated to A Level standard or equivalent
