- THE ROLE -

The newly created role of Executive Head of Digital Creativity and Learning is an exciting opportunity that will provide strategic and operational leadership to a newly formed team across three distinct areas within the Digital Creativity and Learning Unit:

- Digital Learning - Leading on Digital Pedagogy, developing and delivering leading digital learning content and deploying technology effectively for assessing student learning, differentiating delivery and providing rigorous, relevant and engaging digital learning experiences for our learners
- Design & Print - Leading on Design to support learning, marketing and communications requirements. Resources include Graphic Designers, Print Services, Video Production, Photography and Visual Effects
- Web Development - Leading the Web Development team, responsible for managing university websites and the supporting infrastructure, responsible for defining the website strategy and delivering a leading website for the institution

The post holder will work closely with Digital Services colleagues, professional services units and the Academic community across the University to establish an appropriate infrastructure to support institutional business needed. After recent structural changes, there will also be a requirement to establish effective governance processes, as well as developing productive working relationships with key internal and external customers, government bodies and partner organisations as part of the role.

The role will champion and lead the ongoing development of digital learning within UWTSD, as well as the creative resources within the unit. Facilitating new approaches to digital creativity and learning within the institution, making use of the newly created team to develop leading creative digital content for both learning and marketing requirements.

The role will be a key member of the Digital Services Senior Management team and will have an opportunity to pioneer a novel approach and to provide effective digital creativity leadership.

This role will suit an enthusiastic, ambitious and strong creative leader who wants to work at the cutting edge of Higher Education.

You should be prepared to engage in online and distance working during the short term, due to Covid-19 restrictions, but should also be prepared to work from campus in the near future in either Carmarthen or Swansea, if local restrictions permit.

- THE PERSON -

- You will be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience in a related role
- You will have significant leadership and management experience of digital learning or creative teams - developing people, nurturing talent and managing scalable resources
- You will have proven management experience within a senior role, including change management, strategic planning and governance processes
- You will show analytical and creative thinking: with strong analytical skills including scenario planning, problem-solving and decision-making
- You will be highly competent in workload planning, academic organisation, prioritising and monitoring
- You will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate
effectively at all levels in a variety of methods
- You will have the ability to make decisions and work under pressure, in relation to the provision and support of critical services
- You are able to work under own initiative. To predict problems and be proactive in identifying and delivering solutions
