Background

National Academy for Social Prescribing (NASP) is a newly registered charity and company limited by guarantee. Our goals are to promote social prescribing and to bring about a social revolution in wellbeing, as set out in the NASP Strategic Plan.

Royal Voluntary Service (RVS) is the UK national charity built on local volunteering, giving support and advice to people in need in NHS hospitals and communities across Britain. We have been supporting Britain for over 80 years. Inspiring and enabling people to give the gift of voluntary service to meet the needs of the day.

We’re currently looking for an Events and Network Manager to join us on a fixed-term contract until the 30th November 2022. There may be opportunity for this role to be extended, subject to funding.

We also welcome applications from neurodiverse candidates.

The role

Accelerating Innovation is a new programme which supports national voluntary organisations to develop their social prescribing ideas, so they can offer projects and approaches which have greater impact and wider reach.

Accelerating Innovation is a partnership between National Academy for Social Prescribing, Royal Voluntary Service and NHS England and NHS Improvement.

At the heart of the programme is a Community of Practice which brings together national voluntary organisations to forge connections with health and social care systems and work closely with local communities to develop activities and services that work for local people.

The Events and Network Manager will have day-to-day responsibility for developing and managing the new Accelerating Innovation Community of Practice, including organising learning events and workshops to bring people together and encouraging members to connect outside those meetings to develop new collaborations.

You can find out more about the Accelerating Innovation in Social Prescribing programme here: https://socialprescribingacademy.org.uk/our-work/accelerating-innovation

Support for filling and managing the work is through NASP, and the contractual relationship is through RVS.

Interested? If so, you will need:

- Knowledge and experience of the voluntary sector, especially how national organisations support health and wellbeing and how they can develop new approaches to address health inequalities
- Experience of managing or growing peer networks, bringing them together around shared priorities and motivating them to make new connections
- Experience of co-ordinating events (online and in person), including finding and briefing speakers, organising sign-ups and logistics, and chairing sessions
- Confident use of Zoom for meetings and webinars, online workshop tools (Jamboard and Slido), and MS suite
- Excellent written and spoken English with the ability to write newsletter updates and bring together case studies and summaries of projects and activities
- Proactive and organised self-starter who is able to use their own initiative and make tasks their own
- Knowledge of social prescribing is desirable; how it works and the opportunities it affords for innovation by the voluntary sector (local, regional, and national)
