We are looking for the Systems Developer in Canary Wharf, working remotely up to 4 days per week.

The Systems Developer role exists within an Agile Scrum development environment to assist the IT Systems Manager in the delivery of IT solutions to clients, in the form of front-end and back-end development for web applications, utilising responsive web-based design, bespoke user-control development, data integration solutions and business reporting development. The codebase utilized will follow the system application and will be either Java or Microsoft .NET (C#).

The role works in an Agile Development methodology and as such the person is expected to participate in the Agile Scrum development life cycle including participation in the daily stand-up meetings, backlog planning, sprint planning and sprint review meetings.

Key responsibilities:
1. IT Development
• Coordinating with external teams to develop and support Java-based web applications
• Developing and supporting client-facing web-forms-based C#.NET controls and applications
• Developing and supporting back-end data applications for automated logistical processes e.g., purchase order import feeds, milestone EDI messaging, automated reporting
• Maintaining regular dialogue with clients and/or client development managers to effectively understand and manage client requests and troubleshoot issues e.g., ad-hoc queries
• Liaising with IT Systems Manager, Senior Web Developer, and business teams to ensure all related requirements are well-defined
• Updating and maintaining technical documentation and specifications
• Measures to evaluate achievement include timely delivery of solutions within agreed-to timeframes, quality of coding and logging, and quality of support measured by feedback from clients, account managers, and other team members
• Working within an Agile development methodology
• Attending Agile meetings
• Ensure development tickets are updated in a timely manner.

2. Customer Support
• The individual will be assigned one or several primary clients to support and will also be required to provide backup support for other non-primary clients when necessary.
• Support is also a key activity for the role, as it is expected that the individual work closely with clients, account managers, and other team members to provide the necessary solution for post-development support and ad-hoc data-related queries.
• Providing 2nd-level support for queries coming through Helpdesk

Key responsibilities:
• Experience of working in Agile Scrum methodologies.
• Front-end development skills with an eye for detail, using any or all of HTML5, Javascript, AJAX, Jquery, JSON
• Experience with Node.js, Angular, COSMOSDB
• Experience of using Visual Studio (2019 or higher) and Microsoft C#.NET Frameworks (2.0 through to 4.0) in related Microsoft application developments (Windows/web/console applications, MVC, WCF, SOA)
• Experience of the Java web platform and technologies including a java authoring IDE.
• Possesses a good understanding of relational databases
• C# web-forms based web application development
• Experience with MVC-based web applications
• Proficiency to adapt/learn/apply new languages
• Good Transact-SQL, writing and optimizing SQL data queries e.g., stored procedures, views, user-defined functions
• Confident to communicate with clients and the business for requirements analysis and troubleshooting and resolving data issues
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Ability to effectively work independently or within a team
• Ability to show initiative; to identify potential improvements on existing processes and follow through innovatively
