We are looking for an SQL Server DBA based in Northampton.

The position holder will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server relational database management system (Microsoft SQL Server). Their main goal is to ensure the availability and consistent performance of various corporate applications.

The position will offer a salary of £45-50K and an opportunity to work remotely up to 4 days per week (occasional travel to the key Yusen sites will be required).

Key responsibilities:
1. IT Infrastructure
a. Responsible for the management, support and maintenance of SQL server databases. Monitoring of systems health and performance.
b. Taking ownership for incident tickets, ensuring all steps to identify and resolve the issue in a timely and effective manner. Escalating issues as necessary to achieve service level delivery expectations.
c. Contributing to the architecture and delivery roadmap to ensure high levels of performance, availability, sustainability and security.
d. Ensure that all Company policies and standards set by the business Cyber Security function are followed by all users.
e. Assisting with client audits, remediation of identified vulnerabilities and providing evidence of compliance via reporting mechanisms.
f. Understand and communicate technical solutions and designs to both technical and non-technical audiences.

2. Customer Service
a. Build strong working relationship with customers and internal teams, generating good two-way communication and engagement.
b. Ensure that customer enquiries, both verbal and written are managed in a timely and professional manner.
c. Documenting and communicating the results of your efforts.
d. Gathering accurate critical information from meetings with stakeholders and producing appropriate deliverables for the team

3. Policy & Procedures
a. Ensure that all company procedures are followed at all times, including people processes, performance etc.

4. Health & Safety
a. Lead by example, ensuring a safe and efficient workplace is maintained at all times, escalate where necessary.
b. Ensure compliance in relation to all Health & Safety aspects of the operation and continuously improved where possible.


Key requirements:
• MCTS, MCITP, and/or MVP certifications
• Strong experience of working as an SQL Server DBA or in a similar role (Microsoft SQL Server)
• Proven experience in the following areas
? MySQL Server Administration
? Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO)
? developing backups, restores and recovery model
? High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
? Windows server, including Active Directory

• Experience of computer hardware/software innovation and delivery
• Good knowledge of Active Directory user/group management
• A strong focus on service delivery and customer satisfaction
• Attention to detail with a methodical and thorough approach to work
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Good time-management skills
• Proven problem-solving skills
• Excellent reporting and documentation skills
• Team player
• Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on company’s success
• Full driving licence as role will require occasional travel around the UK
