The Role

Working alongside a friendly team, you will participate in the day-to-day running of our shop and coffee bar in Princess Royal Hospital.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

- Providing friendly, helpful and efficient customer service at all times
- Operating the till and undertaking cash reconciliation as required
- Complying with associated statutory standards policies and procedures e.g. Health and Safety, Food Hygiene, Data Protection, Financial controls and other operating policies and procedures
- Receiving incoming deliveries, distribute, maintain and date rotate stock as appropriate
- Assisting in the accurate completion of regular stock checks
- Assisting in the day-to-day co-ordination of the provision of volunteers to meet the operational requirements
- "Stepping up" to fill the role of Senior Service Assistant when required due to leave or absence

Working Hours

This is a part-time role working 24 hours per week, over four shifts between 8am and 6:30pm for a fixed-term, three-month contract.

Our retail sites can be open on weekends and bank holidays. There may also be opportunities for paid overtime in busy periods or to cover absence.

What you’ll need

Working in a hospital requires a special kind of customer service. Your ability to communicate with a variety of people in a friendly and cheerful way will make a real difference to someone’s day. The key is to adapt your approach to each person to ensure their needs are met.

You will need:

- Previous experience in a similar retail environment
- A willingness to undertake training and continuing professional development
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- Good literacy and numeracy skills

Proficiency with industry-standard IT systems and knowledge of EPOS systems would be desirable, as would experience of general administrative processes.
