The Position

Job Title: Apprentice IT Field Engineer
Apprenticeship Course: Level 3 Information Communication Technician
Apprenticeship Duration: 18 Months approx.
Location: London EC1R - Hybrid Working
Working Hours: 9.00am - 17:30pm, Monday to Friday
Salary: £15,000 per annum


Role and Responsibilities

The successful applicant will work within a small, busy office environment attending to basic but vital IT tasks on site such as the setup of new computers and troubleshooting of hardware and software issues.

Working with the full support and guidance of the Helpdesk team, you would also be visiting some of the client’s London-based sites where you will be installing / maintaining network devices such as switches, routers, servers and firewalls, learning about Windows, Office software, Linux, cabling, servers, backups and networking, setting up PCs and printers, and troubleshooting devices such as screens, tills, credit card machines and Wi-Fi access points.

This is a great way to get your hands on a variety of different IT devices to build a foundation of real-world IT support experience.

Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge

Driver’s license or plans to get one soon are a plus.
Great communications skills - written and spoken English must be professional, although not necessarily first-language.
Professional appearance and self-discipline a must.
Ability to work independently and structure questions well, researching issues beforehand.
A basic understanding / experience of networks - understanding what an IP address is, what a router, default gateway and DNS servers are would be about enough.
Knowledge and experience of Office 365, Word, Excel and Outlook
A passion for this work and lots of energy and enthusiasm matched with a commitment to progress, working hard on learning from our team’s extensive expertise and developing in the role.
