Our mission is to be the leading global provider of cutting-edge flood prediction that saves lives and livelihoods whilst significantly reducing the cost of flooding. Having launched in January, 2019, we have a growing team of ~25 people with offices in Loughborough and London.

We are now looking for a Geospatial Python Developer to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis.

The Role

As a Geospatial Python Developer, you will help support communities and organisations globally to improve their resilience to floods by maintaining and developing our solutions.

Specifically, you will maintain and develop existing satellite-related prototype code into production. Identifying new technologies that may help develop existing products, you will programme and evolve other backend geospatial applications.

You will also work on the design, development, coding, testing and debugging of applications and co-ordinate with the operational team to meet application requirements for running in the cloud environment.

Additionally, you will:

- Write bespoke codes using Python programming language
- Write and support innovation grants and project reports

About You

To be considered as a Geospatial Python Developer, you will need:

- Proven experience in developing commercial software products in geospatial sectors
- Strong python programming experience in a business environment
- Experience with common geospatial processing python libraries
- Experience of developing on the Ubuntu OS
- Use and understanding of the GIT version control systems
- The ability to work with project managers to produce technical specifications
- A degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Geography, Engineering or a related field

Experience of the AWS Cloud environment would be advantageous, as would experience with flood modelling and working with satellite datasets.

Experience of the full development lifecycle from requirements analysis to design, development, testing and implementation would also be highly beneficial.
