As a Mealtime Support Volunteer you’ll play a friendly and supportive role for patients during mealtimes on a ward. You’ll distribute meals to patients, interacting with them and their visitors as appropriate, and ensuring they have everything they need to be able to make the most of their mealtime experience.
Activities in this role will commonly include:
• Delivering lunch or a tea-time meal to patients OR taking the tea trolley round the wards mid-morning to offer snacks to patients and visitors
• Ensuring patients have a clean space to eat their meal
• Ensuring patients have everything they need to enjoy their meal - cutlery etc
• Serving drinks to patients with their meals if required
• Chatting to patients when delivering their meals
• Clearing dishes away at the end of the meal and returning these to the kitchen
• Reporting any issues or feedback as required to the nursing or kitchen teams
This role does not include assisting patients to eat their meals.
