Job Description

Who are we looking for?

At UKAEA, we run a busy programme of visits to our research facilities to increase awareness and support for our mission to bring fusion energy to the world. These range from VIPs and politicians to Government, scientific and industry partners who work with us on our programmes.

We are recruiting for a new role to manage all elements of visits to our Culham Science Centre site in Oxfordshire. The job holder will also continuously monitor feedback from visitors and make improvements to achieve high-quality visits that enhance UKAEA’s reputation. With a new visitor centre at Culham on the way, the post holder will help shape this exciting project to make it a valuable addition to our visitor facilities.

It is a fast-paced role that will suit someone who can work independently within a team, thinks creatively, enjoys meeting and working with people, is a good organiser and is passionate about providing the best possible visitor experience at Culham.

What will you be responsible for?

- Leading and being the sole responsible person for external visits across UKAEA, including hosting/escorting key stakeholders visiting Culham
- Managing visit preparations and logistics, advising senior leaders on the appropriate approach for each visit and reporting on the outcomes achieved
- Recruiting, training and managing a pool of tour guides and presenters to assist with visits to UKAEA facilities
- Leading improvements to content in UKAEA's visitor areas to ensure the best possible experience for stakeholders visiting Culham
- Developing and managing processes for booking, scheduling and organising visits, and for collecting feedback from visitors
- Helping to shape the planning and realisation of a new visitor centre at Culham, working with colleagues in the Stakeholder Engagement and Education/Outreach teams

Qualifications

Essential skills, experience and competence required

- High degree of proficiency in MS Office software and SharePoint
- Good written and verbal English skills and presentation skills
- Experience in a public-facing role or in co-ordinating external stakeholders
- Experience in project management and improving processes
- Event management experience
- Maintaining and analysing data to produce reports for senior management
- Significant experience in a responsible administrative role
