About Us

Snowdonia National Park Authority protects the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of Eryri National Park. Covering 823 miles of diverse landscape, the Park is home to over 26,000 people, the highest mountain in Wales and the largest natural lake in Wales.

The Carneddau Landscape Partnership (CLP) Scheme (the Scheme) is a five year programme which seeks to protect the threatened heritage of the Carneddau (a group of mountains in Snowdonia) by increasing understanding and enjoyment of the area's cultural and natural heritage across a wide range of communities, individuals and organisations.

We are now looking for a Community Engagement Officer to join our team on a full-time basis, for a fixed term contract until 31st December 2025.

The Role

As a Community Engagement Officer, you will raise awareness of the Scheme among local communities.

Generating community-led initiatives, you will focus on wellbeing and education activities that encourage and support individuals to understand the importance of the landscape and the role they can play in safeguarding its future.

You will also support the development and implementation of peer-generated project ideas that contribute to the Scheme’s objectives and demonstrate social, economic, education and wellbeing benefits for participants.

Additionally, you will:

- Support and co-ordinate the recruitment of volunteers
- Evaluate and collect engagement and participation data
- Represent the Scheme at external meetings and partnership events

About You

To be considered as a Community Engagement Officer, you will need:

- The ability to communicate in Welsh and English
- Experience managing community capacity building projects, co-ordinating volunteer-led initiatives and working with a community group
- Experience working with young people
- An understanding of National Parks, environmental and heritage issues and countryside management
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Community Development, Youth and Community Studies or relevant subject
- A full, valid driving licence and the use of a vehicle
