How Webrecruit partnered with North York Moors National Park via Webrecruit ATS to modernise their recruitment practices

North York Moors National Park Authority looks after one of the most phenomenal parts of the British Isles. Filled with beautiful moorlands and breath-taking scenery, picture book villages, and a dramatic coastline, the North York Moors is a unique area with diversity and ecosystems that are found nowhere else in the UK.

The Challenge

 

We caught up with Donna Magson, HR and Health & Safety Assistant for North York Moors National Park regarding their experience of partnering with Webrecruit to utilise Webrecruit ATS, our very own proprietary Applicant Tracking System.

 

North York Moors National Park needed to update their recruitment processes to deal with increasing remote working and were referred to Webrecruit through our partnership with other National Parks.

 

“Prior to using Webrecruit ATS, we had quite archaic recruitment processes; namely, candidates would email in their application form and CV for a particular role, and on the closing date we would print off the application form and CV and provide it to the hiring manager. From there, we would manually email candidates regarding interviews which could be cumbersome and time-consuming.

 

Whilst this did work for North York Moors National Park, the process was clearly outdated; as more of the team started to work from home, the standing process was no longer fit for purpose. We wanted to find a solution that would support remote/hybrid working, continue and sure up our adherence to GDPR compliance, save HR and our internal customers time and provide a more modern, software-based process through which we could administer candidates and hire”

The Solution

 

After having Webrecruit and Webrecruit ATS referred to them, North York Moors National Park started exploring partnering with Webrecruit by utilising Webrecruit ATS as their recruitment software of choice.

 

North York Moors National Park wanted an intuitive, off-the-shelf solution that could immediately optimise their recruitment processes, as well as bolster the experiences of both their hiring managers and candidates.

 

“The thing I like most about Webrecruit ATS is the ease in using the system; everything we need to successfully hire is in one place, and all users can interact and collaborate in the ATS to drive our hiring forwards. The ability to send out a batch of interview invites at the click of a button is excellent, and we can track interview responses and requirements in the ATS.

 

With applications coming in each day, our hiring managers can easily whittle down candidates to their preferred shortlists and we in HR can track movement and identify upcoming resource support to help our internal customers with their hiring. We have so much still to use in the system, but even with the ATS’ central functionality, it has made an undeniable impact and difference to how we hire”

 

After previews of the system, North York Moors National Park knew Webrecruit ATS was the preferred recruitment software solution for them and were keen to get the system up and running as quickly as possible.

 

“We cannot fault the ease in implementing Webrecruit ATS as part of our internal processes and workflows, and the online support sessions we had at rollout stage were really helpful and made us feel even more confident that we had made the right decision in partnering with Webrecruit. By and large, the rollout of Webrecruit ATS was a huge success; as you would expect, there were some teething problems that were easily and speedily overcome. For example, after requesting a particular colour palette for the ATS, we decided it wasn’t right for us and this quickly changed and ready to go. Some Hiring Managers also struggled a little with change to our standing and embedded processes, but quickly came to appreciate the system and its associated benefits.”

The Results

 

Since partnering with Webrecruit for their Applicant Tracking System requirements, North York Moors National Park has seen real improvements and added benefits to their recruitment processes via the utilisation of Webrecruit ATS.

 

“Candidates have their own area to access their application/s and can see the progress of their application for any roles to which they have applied; this is very different to the process we had before and has had a positive impact on the candidate experience whilst reducing time in which we had to manually update candidates on the status of their application.

 

Whilst thinking we may need to roll out extensive system training, the opposite has actually been the case; Webrecruit ATS is such an intuitive system that we at North York Moors National Park took to the system with ease. That has been a huge time saver and has given instant confidence in Webrecruit ATS to both HR and our internal customers!”
