How Webrecruit ATS helped to centralise the recruitment process of one of the UK’s leading supply chain businesses.

The Company


Fowler Welch provides flexible and cost-effective supply chain services for ambient and temperature controlled products. Their client base consists of some of the UK’s leading food producers and supermarket chains.

The Challenge


Fowler Welch started looking at Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) in order to gain greater control of their incoming applications and manage their candidates more efficiently.

Tom Walbank is Fowler Welch’s Recruitment and Retention Advisor and the main recruitment contact in the business. With over 1,300 employees, the need for a centralised recruitment system was paramount for him.

Due to the nature of our business, we recruit for roles that bring in a high volume of applications, such as warehouse staff and drivers. For us, it was a priority to have one centralised portal where we could manage these vacancies.”

The Solution


After viewing a number of systems, Tom selected Webrecruit ATS because of its simplicity and usability. He felt that it was the ATS that aligned the most with the business and the direction it was heading in.

The Results


Following the implementation of Webrecruit ATS in March 2016, Fowler Welch has gone on to achieve the following:

  • Administration time cut dramatically
  • A centralised portal for all incoming applications across multiple locations
  • Improved candidate experience due to automated candidate communications

The flexibility of reporting within the system has also helped. We have a number of depots across the UK and it works really well for that. I like being able to see the application source of a candidate at a glance. I also appreciate the transparency of our account manager, James. I’d say we had a good relationship with the business.”
