As we all know, consistency in communication with candidates before and post-offer is critical to a successful experience for applications, as well as onboarding. Trying to keep in mind needing to call candidates with an update on their application or remembering to drop another candidate an email about their interview time and venue – it can all get a bit overwhelming! So, what’s the simplest way to keep on top of candidate facing communications? Technology is undoubtedly your friend in the name of an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) – a central coordination point for communications that can support a positive candidate experience and take the labour out for you in remembering who needs to know what and when! Read on to see what to consider when implementing an ATS as part of your candidate communication experience! Automate your email communications Save yourself time by setting emails to automatically send to candidates when they’ve progressed to a particular stage in the recruitment pipeline within your Applicant Tracking System – whilst this may seem so simple, it can save you so much time and provide your candidates with a real-time view of where their application is at in your processes. Send SMS updates Utilising SMS as a communications tool via your Applicant Tracking System is an indisputably modern way of ensuring candidates are being communicated within a multi-modal fashion. It is hard to deny that many of us are more glued to our phones than emails, so SMS updates and reminders are pertinent as well as effective! They can also help reduce your risk of interview no-shows by sending reminders and notifications to candidates - it’s more difficult to miss a text than it is an email, after all! Communicate with multiple candidates at once Sending emails to dozens of candidates at once with the click of a button, saving you hours, is something important to consider when selecting and developing an Applicant Tracking System to suit your needs. You will want to look for an automated system that auto-populates emails with candidates’ details and will ensure unified communications are delivered across your applicant pool. Trackable Communications When communicating with candidates, it is also important to consider ways to avoid duplicate communications as well as being able to see what emails may have been sent, or SMS comms, to ensure your candidates are not being unduly swamped with unnecessary communications regarding the same points (or even conflicting communications!).
